Lake Michigan Bike Trip - Day 12

Manistique, MI to Escanaba MI 69.59 miles
After a grueling day on US Highway 2, I was looking forward to a day's ride mostly on more peaceful roads. Because of the threat of showers once again, departure time was set for dawn. Much of the first half of the ride was shrouded in a fog. At times I was riding below it and then ascend right into the soup. Contrary to what I have been used to back home where the fog usually sits in the marshy lowlands, here I was increasing my elevation to ascend into the blanket. With my thin glove liners, my fingers worked like windshield wipers on my cycling glasses.
When the sun did burn off most of the fog, glimpses of a much different lakefront could be observed. This scene resembles the low marshy ground that I have been accustomed to seeing back home and to associating with dense fog like I experienced today.
The rest of the trip was via more urban roads through Gladstone and Escanaba. There was not much of interest that I haven't seen in more spectacular fashion earlier in the trip. Furthermore a light sprinkle started and so I booked it in to beat the threatening rain.
