Lake Michigan Bike Trip - Day 6

Beulah, MI to Northport, MI 80.44 miles
Prepping for the next day's leg involves recharging all the electronics uses - GPS, voice recorder, cellphone, camera, lights. Having a power strip is a necessary piece of equipment.

The daily routine also include hydrating with 64 oz of water each morning.
Of course that means lots of pit stops along the route.

The day started out with a surprise within the first mile when an expected paved road ended up being mud and gravel. I have by now gotten used to the Garmin maps screwing up the roads. This one proved tricky since it was a steep descent down to Platte Lake for about 3/4 mile.
After that road conditions on Highway M-22 were fantastic, when spectacular vista throughout.
Turning off the main highway proved a slightly rougher ride with roads that appeared to be made of pebbles bonded together. The roads were well maintained but tended to rattle the bike at higher speeds.
The same type of surface but with grooves and loose gravel caused one descent to be even more tricky than the gravel road at the beginning of this leg. But, oh, the surrounding were well worth it - a deeply wooded storybook stretch of winding road.
The sun was playing hide and seek for most of the morning at for one brief instant provided a starburst spotlight effect highlighting the surrounding clouds.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park required several stops just to take in the panaramas.
The Leelanau Lake's picturesque structures, orchards, and lake views.
